Instructor's Bio

Henderson Greenidge started Martial Arts in August 1983. He joined Croydon Martial Arts Centre and trained in Thai Boxing under Mr Chris Price. He found that Thai Boxing had all the the direct contact needed and was the most suitable for street defence. He trained there on and off for 5 years. At that particular time He was also interested in Kung Fu movies and was very impressed to see all the flashy moves, he decided he wanted to learn to do this and so searched for a Kung Fu club.

In 1990 Henderson joined the Chin Woo Northern Shaolin Kung Fu School under Master Y.W.Lee. It was while training there that he gained his first degree black sash. During this period Henderson trained in Tang Soo Do under Master Suresh Nar. He missed quite a few gradings but was more interested in learning new techniques than wearing a nice coloured belt around his waist!!

In 1993 Henderson won European gold at the Tang Soo Do Championships in sparring and 2nd in the forms competition. He trained hard and was very pleased with himself!! It was around this time that Henderson started training in Yoga to keep supple. He trained at the Brixton Recreational Centre. Doing headstands at that time made him dizzy, but it was fun.

In 1995 He represented the UK in the International Wushu Tournament in China. He competed in Chinese Full Contact (San Shou) and was placed third. He was very pleased he received a medal.

Henderson had started doing gymnastics the previous year at the Drill Hall in Central London, but it was whilst in China that He became more interested in it. He saw people perform various routines which involved backflips and somersaults and He wanted to learn these.

When He came back from China Henderson started training in Wushu under Mr Larry Francois at the Jubilee Sports Centre in Covent Garden. After the Wushu class he used to attend the acrobatics class there so you can imagine at the end he was tired!!
